FINALLY:
TRULY AUTHENTIC SHEERS ARE HERE!
Photo
Update!!!
We are now taking pre-orders for the
most exquisite (and the most authentic) line of sheer cotton fabrics
available for reproduction Civil War-period dresses.
Custom made in India specifically for
us, “Floral Wreath” is a faithful copy of the fabric used in an
original c.1858-64 dress from the collection of Glenna Jo Christen in
Detroit, Michigan. A pattern made from this original is being produced by
Saundra Altman of Past Patterns and is available at http://www.pastpatterns.com.
Diaphanous fabrics like this were a very elegant way to stay cool in the
mid-19th century. Until now, however, the only sheers available for
this purpose bore patterns or motifs that were incorrect for the period.
So what are you waiting for?
This 100% cotton barred organdy will be available June 1
in four colorways:
-the original color: reddish brown with white motif
-light blue with brown motif
-peach with brown motif
-white with black motif
To keep prices low and to match
fabric requirements on the Past Patterns pattern #812:
A Sheer Muslin Dress, these fabrics
will be sold in 10-yard lengths. The price will be $12.50 per yard which
includes shipping. If you would like to order a sheer dress made by us the price
per yard is $10.00. A deposit of 50% will
guarantee your fabric from this limited edition run! If you would like to
place an order, please use the Contact
Us page.

| This is the original fabric that was photographed from
Glenna Jo's original dress. |
|

Here is the reproduction of the original colorway of
Brown and White, the fabric is not ironed so that is why it is wrinkled
like this, but you are now able to see the "barred" texture of
the fabric |

Colorway of White with Black, note that the fabric is
folded and that is why you can see what looks like "bleeding",
the print is actually crisp. |
|

Colorway of Peach and Brown, same see through effect
with the pattern |

Colorway of Light Blue and Brown. |
